Here at Visit Lewes we strongly believe in supporting local traders and small businesses and what better time to show your appreciation by shopping local this Christmas.From festive fairs to late night shopping events, shopping in the district of Lewes has never been so twinkly. 

Lewes Late Night Shopping Event - Thursday 5 December

Each year, the roads are closed to traffic in Lewes enabling shoppers to experience the full magic of the town. Not only can you enjoy extended shopping hours, but festive happenings taking place from the top to the bottom of town. We'll also be unveiling new Christmas lights so Lewes will be more twinkly and festive than ever. 

At the top of the town , the Lewes High Street Traders Association have organised music, performers and horse and carriage rides. Visit Lewes has also sponsored a children’s costume competition in the Gun Garden at the castle. The theme is ‘fireflies’, and its hoped lots of little people will turn up wearing sparkly LED lights. This year's event has been designed for the whole family to enjoy. 

At the bottom of town, Harvey's Brewery will also be running their festive event with music, food and the chance to meet their working dray horses. 

To encorage shoppers to support our independent shops, visit Lewes are also running a competition to win a luxurious hamper. Over 70 independent traders in Lewes are taking part in our Christmas campaign, and each one has very generously donated something from their shop to make up a truly unique and quirky hamper of gifts for one lucky winner. It includes local produce, socks (of course), candles, vouchers for everything from haberdashery to handmade cakes, and a very special piece of jewellery courtesy of our friends at W E Clark. Lewes Women in Business - Christmas Emporium - Saturday 30 November

Lewes is full of entrepreneurial and creative women and their Christmas Emporium gives you the chance to browse and shop their beautiful wares. This is a great opportunity to pick up some unique Christmas gifts and stocking fillers.

Seaford Christmas Magic - 7 December 

This very special event takes place across the whole of Seaford Town with an impressive line up of seasonal entertainment. Choirs, singers and musicians as well as a Christmas market, festive stories at the library and a showing of Mary Poppins at the Seaford Community Cinema.
