In 2019, Lewes District Council rebranded Lewes Tourism into what is now known as Visit Lewes, Coast & Country. We enlisted the help of some of the top photographers and graphic designers from the District who's hard work and passion for the places they live have transformed the brand into what it is now. Visit Lewes would like to thank each and every one of them for their continued support.
Carlotta's work has been guided by her lifelong interest in place and how people and objects inhabit their settings. Having had three culturally distinct homes - New England, Northern California and East Sussex - Carlotta finds constant inspiration in the differences between their light, landscape, architecture and ways of life. In all of her photographs, whether of people at work, or construction sites, or events and celebrations, she look to frame aesthetics within a decidedly human context, creating a story in each frame. As early as her teen years, she used photography to explore the relationship between people and their environments, and the connection of buildings to personal history. In Carlotta's undergraduate years, she studied Fine Arts, which helped her develop her artistic vision and an awareness of historical and cultural contexts. After moving to the UK from New England, exactly half a lifetime ago, she obtained a Master’s degree in Urban Design. This gave her an enhanced understanding of how people use public spaces and how those spaces make people feel.
