This iconic Lewes pub dates from the 18th century and is tucked off the beaten track in an alleyway, just an arrow's shot from the Castle.
Known for it's friendly atmosphere, great selection of drinks and cosy bar, the Lewes Arms is the perfect place for a pint of our local brew - Harvey's Best.
Its also a great place to eat - an extensive and ever-popular menu of pizzas and platters is supplied by the fantastic Pat's Pizza from their woodfired oven in the yard.
The Arms made national news in 2007 when then owners Greene King removed Harvey's from the bar and locals staged a 133 day boycott, forcing the brewery into a U-turn. This episode in the pub's long history - known as the Lewes Arms Controversy - even has it's own Wikipedia page.
A true community pub, the Arms is home to a variety of weird and wonderful events throughout the year, including Dwyle Flonking, the World Pea Throwing Championships and Spaniel Racing (you don't have to be a spaniel to take part). Visit their website to see what they get up to.
