Join artisan Annie Slack and carve a wooden spoon by hand from Greenwood. Spoon carving is an immersive activity, it develops great focus and offers an opportunity to find your 'flow' and master something truly rewarding.
You will begin with a rough 'blank' that has been shaped with an axe and will refine it using a straight knife and a curved spoon knife. You will learn the essential knife grips, following techniques from the Swedish 'sloyd' tradition. This course is suitable for beginners or those with some previous experience.
Due to the risks inherent in using sharp knives and axes, we ask that all attendees are able to take instruction and have strength and stability in their hands.
