Kayaks on the River Ouse

About

This is the easiest of all the kayaking river trips we run.  However, just because it's easy on the arms you certainly don't miss out on the views and stunning countryside.

Starting the trip in the beautiful market town of Lewes, we get on to the water next to what Lewes is (possibly) most famous for, the Harvey's Brewery.  We head inland with the incoming tide and within a few minutes we leave the town of Lewes behind us as we enter the beautiful Sussex downland.  The Lewes railway line follows the river for a short while but it's not long until we only see green fields, sheep, churches, heron, swans, cormorant and believe it or not llamas, alpacas and a crocodile!

Who it's for: With this trip being based on the calm Sussex inland waterways, it is suitable for everyone, as this is the shortest and easiest river trip we do.  It is also suitable for junior paddlers 12 years and older.  You need no previous experience, just a healthy sense of adventure!  If you like the idea of a peaceful paddle along the picturesque Sussex inland waterways then this is for you.

What you'll need: We'll supply all the equipment you require (except clothing).  Bring along a wet suit or warm layers to paddle in, fleece material and wool are best.

A bottle of drink and a snack for the half way point. Sun cream if it's a hot day.  As we finish our trip next to the Harvey's Brewery, maybe a few pounds for a pint?

Timings:  The trip takes approximately 2.5hrs.  Start times for each trip depend upon the tide for that day.
