We're chuffed to have Michael Baker back at Hilltop, this time in his new musical persona of Roman Joon, who have just released their first single, 'Call It What You Want' ahead of the release of their debut album 'I think I'm Alright, Mighty Fine', mixed by James Drink (Gorillaz, Jamie T, Blur). The songs carries dreamy synths and soft electronic beats, and guitars soaked in an indie-psychedelic soundscapes.
We think Michael is one of the most talented and innovative musicians around, whether as a solo artist, with duo Sockdrawer or as Roman Joon. It is no wonder his music has been compared to the likes of The Villagers, Sufjan Stevens and Bon Iver.
"The simplest of things can be most effective. Michael's music is sparse, yet often deeply moving" Mahogany.
