Chalamet is charming in this highly inventive and spectacularly colourful prequel to Roald Dahl's Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory story.
It depicts how Wonka gained a foothold in London against dastardly odds only to have his dream reduced to bubbling caramel. Will he pick himself up again? This film escapes being overly sweet thanks to a cast of malefactors led by Colman.
