Urban Tree Walk with Paul Wood

About

Join urban tree expert Paul Wood for an entertaining and enlightening tour of Newhaven's urban forest.  You may not notice them, but trees are all around us in towns and cities.  They are not always particularly conspicuous, but there is often a surprisingly diverse range of species, often from far flung corners of the world.

Starting at the War Memorial on Bridge Street, Paul will lead a tour around the streets of Newhaven looking at the trees.  He will tell us about the types of trees we find, how they got here and where they came from.  He'll offer hints for identification too.  It's sure to be a fascinating tour, and one that will make you see Newhaven in a new way.

Paul Wood biog:  Paul is the author of London's Street Trees, London is a Forest, London Tree Walks and is the editor of the Great Trees of London Map.  He has had a lifelong passion for nature, especially trees, and was formerly a trustee of the London Wildlife Trust.  He is currently working on a book of 1,000 remarkable urban trees throughout the UK and Ireland, which will be published by Penguin in 2023.

He regularly leads walks and gives talks about trees in urban areas.  As well as in London, Paul has led walking tours around the streets of Sheffield, Dublin and Philadelphia!
