The glorious, powerful vocal harmony of The Wilsons of Teesside has rung out in folk clubs & festivals for over 40 years. In 2011 they performed at the Royal Albert Hall & in 2013 accompanied Sting in 20 shows at The Public Theatre, New York. Tom, Chris, Steve, Ken & Mike sing traditionally-oriented songs with deep understanding, joy & good humour. They shared a close friendship with Peter Bellamy & cite him as a major influence, along with The Copper Family, The Young Tradition, The Watersons, Johnny Collins, Jim Mageean & Fred Jordan amongst many others. They were awarded the EFDSS Gold Badge in 2018.
The Wilsons will give us two forty-five minute spots and the rest of the evening is filled by members of the audience performing a song or tune if they wish.
During the day The Wilsons lead an all-day singing & vocal harmony workshop.
Everyone is welcome, especially if you'd like to sing or play. We mostly sing and play traditional music from the British Isles, but we enjoy other styles as well. We always start off with some English dance tunes for anyone with an instrument to join in.
We have a loyalty card. Six visits earn you £5 off an evening when admission is £5 or more. It's £12 tonight. Advance tickets are available from the club and its website.
