Stuck in the summer holidays with nothing to do? Interested in creative technology and the outdoors?
Be part of 'Solace' - an exciting, new and interactive installation touring The South Downs.
We are running a family-friendly Nature Recording workshop for 'Solace' at the Seven Sisters Country Park, to help capture sounds and video footage from the nearby rivers and sea.
What is it?
Solace is an interactive sound and video installation inspired by the Sussex Downs. It has been designed to get local families involved in more experimental art.
Happening over the summer 2019 to spring 2020, it will invite audiences to ask questions about our relationship with open and urban spaces, wellbeing and digital authenticity.
The work will be created by artists Karen Tilley and Kevin Grist and inspired by digital content captured by local people.
What happens in this workshop?
You will get to explore the rural settings of the Seven Sisters Country Park, taking sound recordings and video footage of the landscape and wildlife. Learn how to turn your mobile device into a field recorder and have a go at manipulating and experimenting with the content you have collected.
The work you create will feed into the interactive installation which will be exhibited at The Crypt Gallery, Seaford, in October 2019.
The session will be informal with the emphasis on having fun. There is no need to have any previous experience - but do bring along your smart phone or tablet (charged), and wear suitable outdoor clothes and footwear. We will provide all other equipment and refreshments.
