The Temptress will be shown at the All Saints Centre with Yosi Marshall playing a musical accompaniment on piano, percussion, sax, flute and clarinet. He is a regular at Cafe Yukari, having given piano recitals, other film evenings and woodwind concerts in both classical and jazz styles.
Yosi performed Charlie Chaplin Modern Times at the OSO Centre in Barnes to a packed house, as well as having been a regular performer at the Classic Cinema Club, the International School of London and Addison Primary School. He has played musical accompaniment on such films as the Artist, Alfred Hitchcock's The Lodger, The Passion of Joan of Arc, the Arabian Nights, the Man who Laughs, Charlie Chaplin's Modern Times, Buster Keaton : The General, the Voyager, Balloonatic and the Electric House. During lockdown, he steamed musical accompaniment online to films such as Fritz Lang's Metropolis and the comedies of Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton.
This is Yosi's first film night at the All Saints Centre and hopes to run a series.
The Temptress is a 1926 American silent romantic drama film directed by Fred Niblo and starring Greta Garbo, Antonio Moreno, Lionel Barrymore, and Roy D'Arcy. It premiered on October 10, 1926. The film melodrama was based on a novel by Vicente Blasco Ibáñez adapted for the screen by Dorothy Farnum.
In her fourth film and only second film for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, Garbo plays the title role, a vamp who inadvertently destroys many men who come in contact with her. The film was released on DVD in 2005 with a new score, written by Michael Picton, who won Turner Classic Movies's fifth annual Young Film Composers competition.[1]
