Visitors will find there is ample space for social distancing here. They’ll also find it’s a magical place. Down the 45 years I have run a pottery here I have used clay, plaster, cast iron and lead. For the majority of this time I chose a most labour intensive technique of firing known as salt glazing.
Now that kiln stands idle and I’m learning in its place how to use the much simpler technique of using electric kilns. Form is the thread that connects the pots I once made, followed by large sculptural birdbaths and now much smaller landscape-based sculptures.
This year I am showing both the last birdbaths I’ll make together with the new work. Also available to see are the spacious facilities for teaching that starts here in Oct.
