Riley Baugus represents the very best of old-time US 5-string banjo & song. His powerful singing voice & brilliant playing place him squarely at the head of the next generation of US roots music. Born in the Southern Appalachians, he has toured with dancer Ira Bernstein, singer Tim Eriksen & fiddle & banjo player Dirk Powell. He's recorded with Robert Plant, Alison Krauss & Willie Nelson.
Riley will give us two 45-minute spots & the rest of the evening is filled by members of the audience doing a song or tune if they wish. Everyone is welcome, especially if you'd like to sing or play. We mostly sing and play traditional music from the British Isles, but we enjoy other styles as well. We always start off with some English dance tunes for anyone with an instrument to join in.
On Sunday 10th. November Riley leads an all-day US Old-Time banjo workshop for us.
We have a loyalty card. Six visits earn you £5 off an evening when admission is £5 or more. It's £10 tonight.
