Violinist, singer and composer Nancy Kerr has to date won 6 BBC Folk Awards including Folk Singer of the Year. She performs solo as well as with new supergroup Magpie Arc and has a multi-award-winning duo with James Fagan. She was named Honorary Professor of Performance and Composition at Leeds Conservatoire and is now Lecturer in Folk & Traditional Music at Newcastle University.
We will work together to learn new repertoire, at your pace and using a range of methods. Notation is available, but we will also explore how we can develop our musical ears and memories. Simple tunes and songs will be used as a jumping off point for deepening our expressive playing, improving tone and swing, and building our confidence to improvise and compose.
