Come and Celebrate with us! Familiar Faces celebrates local people from every walk of life. We at St Michael’s Church are holding this Portrait Exhibition as part of our 900th Anniversary Celebrations. The large portraits, displayed on artist’s easels in the Town Centre are by local photographer, Hilary Musk and seek to ‘tell a story’ about each person photographed.
The beautiful book, ‘St Michael’s 900, The Story of a Church, its Town and its People,’ by Carole Buchan, features most of the portraits and contains articles on local history and characters plus charities such as RNLI, NCI and the Foodbank and will be on sale throughout ArtWave.
An Occasion: Be there at 10.00am on the 5th September! The Mayor, Graham Amy, will open the exhibition outside Londis near the Library at 10.30am preceded by a Shout from the Town Crier, Jason Ede. The portraits will be in windows throughout the High Street and there will be a trail and a quiz for children with a small prize at the end. Carol Havard will also be present to draw people’s portraits throughout the day. So do come and celebrate the wonderful people of Newhaven with us!
