A reflective event to consider oppression in its many forms. Why does it happen? What can we do to prevent it? What are our roles as perpetrators, participants, witnesses? Through memories, writing and discussion, using artefacts and newspaper cuttings, we will draw on family histories, or simply access our powers of empathy to imagine and bring to life a day of significance for someone who has suffered oppression, political or otherwise.
Suitable for all ages. We particularly welcome multi-generational stories, and young people who are wanting to engage with the topic of oppression imaginatively.
Led by Christine Cohen Park, writer and workshop convenor. No charge, but reservation required.
