Clearings in the Sky

About

Through live chamber music, interactive artwork and staged poetry readings in an intimate setting, we invite you to experience in a new way Lili Boulanger's historical vocal work, Clairières dans le Ciel (1918), as well as a Jack Ledger-Dowse World-premiere, Remember Me (2021). This is the first recital of a new Lewes Music Group chamber music concert series, Chamber Music in Art. The aim of every concert in this series is to combine high-level music-making with exciting new tailored artistic work, where each artist inspires the other. Our performers in Clearings in the Sky are young musicians from the Royal College of Music, namely soprano Sofia Kirwan-Baez, pianist Emily Hoh and composer Jack Ledger-Dowse. Up-and-coming illustrator, Iona Barbour, has curated this recital's visual elements to the music and themes within the song cycle's poetry. She is currently doing her Masters in Illustration at the London College of Communication. Set in the picturesque Lewes, Cliffe Hall's beautiful interior is the perfect setting for this innovative interactive approach to chamber music. Book with confidence – we aim to keep our audiences safe during these COVID times so in the event of government rule changes, you will get a full refund. However, any donations made to the recital series are appreciated and go straight to the musicians and to the maintenance of the hall's piano. Please read below for our current COVID guidelines. These are subject to change. Lewes Music Group - COVID Guidelines This performance will be socially distanced The wearing of masks is compulsory unless you are exempt
