Bryony Griffith & Alice Jones, Lewes Saturday Folk Club

Unusual, powerful traditional songs from Yorkshire with fiddle, guitar and body percussion from Bryony (Witches of Elswick, Demon Barbers, Bedlam, fiddler for Newcastle Kingsmen) and Alice (Black Box Band, John Dipper Band, Ryburn3Step, Pete Coe) with huge energy and authenticity. Bryony & Alice will give us two 45-minute spots and the rest of the evening is filled by members of the audience performing a song or tune if they wish.

During the day the Bryony leads an all-day workshop on vocal harmony, using three of Bryony's 4-part (SATB) a cappella vocal arrangements of Winter/Christmas songs. Teaching will be by ear but dots and lyrics will also be provided. All abilities, no experience needed.

Everyone is welcome, especially if you'd like to sing or play. We mostly sing and play traditional music from the British Isles, but we enjoy other styles as well. We always start off with some English dance tunes for anyone with an instrument to join in.
