Ben (https://benpaley.com/about/) is a natural & scintillating musician who has been playing the fiddle music of the USA, Sweden & Ireland since he was six. He has toured widely with his father Tom Paley, The Long Hill Ramblers, Tab Hunter, The New Deal String Band & Sarah Grey & Kieron Means. He has recorded with Damon Albarn, Michael Nyman, McDermott's Two Hours, Mandragora & The Levellers. His book Swedish Fiddle Music, An Anthology is the standard work on the subject in English. Photo: Laurie Lewis. Ben will give us two 45-minute spots and the rest of the evening is filled by members of the audience performing a song or tune if they wish. Everyone is welcome, especially if you'd like to sing or play. We mostly sing and play traditional music from the British Isles, but we enjoy other styles as well. We always start off with some English dance tunes for anyone with an instrument to join in. We have a loyalty card. Six visits earn you £5 off an evening when admission is £5 or more.
