Paintings and poems of hope, including a new outdoor mural for the South Downs Youth Hostel Association at Southease. The full exhibition is also online on my website with an Instagram auction of original work @ashleyhylandartist ending 20 September 2020 at midnight.
The lightening-struck tree gives us hope. It pushes through, changed in a beautiful way. Its branches shine silver now in the moonlight like the tree wears jewellery in its fullness. Lush green leaves hang like a plush coat around its shoulders: glamorous, firmly alive, firmly planted on this earth, strong in its home.
Watch me work - mural video to be posted on Instagram and my website. Oil paintings and watercolours are all of local sites including views from the Ouse Valley and Long Man of Wilmington. Poems include a response to the cantata ‘On Windover Hill’ by Nathan James (www.castleymusic.com). See my website for the BBC documentary. This is an indoor and outdoor exhibition (near Lewes on the A26 or 5 minutes from Southease Station).
Please note: no toilets or indoor seating due to government regulations (may change). Bring a picnic blanket and enjoy a take-out coffee in the South Downs. Garden open.
