Andrew Graham-Dixon reflects on the ways in which art has been shaped by social crisis and upheaval, from the Renaissance to the present day. Looking at the subject from such a perspective results in a refreshingly different sense of the history of art, more vivid than simply a succession of movements or "isms": one that reveals art's true and deep connection with the actual lives of real people.
Andrew has kindly offered a pre talk Q&A for students. This is free to anyone interested in coming and there are a limited number of FREE tickets to the talk for the under 18's. Please contact newhavenfestival.sussex@gmail.com with any questions
