In this comedy based on the premise of reducing people to outrageous stereotypes, Jeffrey Wright is Monk, a frustrated novelist fed up with the establishment profiting from Black entertainment that relies on tired and offensive tropes. To prove his point, he uses a pen name to write his own outlandish Black book, thus propelling himself into the hypocrisy he disdains.
