The Lewes area is rich in history and cultural heritage. It was once home to writer Virginia Woolf, and a favourite country retreat for the Bloomsbury set, and you can still visit these houses for tours and events. But our arts scene is not just historical. Our towns and villages are scattered with small, independent galleries and museums, from Seaford Museum with its quirky displays to contemporary art galleries in Lewes Town and an award-winning museum in Ditchling, our district is perfect for those seeking new and exciting works. In September, the full range of the artistic talent here is showcased in our annual arts event, Artwave.

The Paddock Art studios are housed in lovely old timbered buildings with a beautiful garden behind. The fully equipped studios are close to the centre of Lewes, hidden in a back lane below the castle. The Art Studios run regular events, Weekly Classes and Weekend Workshops
